How can PASS help?

  • PASS offers a support system of Allies to help parents enhance their ability to participate in the education of their children. An Ally will be responsible for one parent, one or more years, to establish a level of comfort and open communication.

  • The Ally and parents will be matched to foster a working relationship. With the parent, Allies will develop goals, action plans, and meeting schedules. Together, they can work within the educational system to help assure the student’s success in school.

  •  PASS Allies will work hard to maintain parents’ trust.

  • PASS trained Allies to never share information about their families with others. Information is kept confidential within PASS, only to assess the need.

  • PASS Allies are trained to never use last names or any other identifying feature.

  • PASS Allies help parents make informed decisions to effectively communicate with local and state school systems and community agencies. Work with children on school-home work.
  • Allies practice “Active listening” which is a way of listening and responding to another person leading to improve mutual understanding and focuses the attention on the speaker to identify a need and be able to provide support accordingly.
