MISSION
Our vision is that all parents, especially those that are underserved or are from low and moderate income communities, have the information and support necessary to enable their children to successfully navigate the choices and challenges of preschool through high school education and be prepared for careers and college. We also envision communities and schools that embrace and nurture the power that parents have to be active partners in their children’s education and future success.
The indented beneficiaries of the PASS Project are low to moderate income families in Northern Virginia who have preschool through 2nd grade children in Arlington and the metropolitan area public schools. These families are facing risk factors such as home language, socioeconomic status, some must endure a frantic lifestyle, and/or low educational attainment that can impact their skills and hinder their engagement with their children’s schooling.
At these times of high-stakes testing and high dropout rates in the context of a competitive academic environment with limited resources, parents need to rely on an additional support system. PASS established partnership with parents and community leaders to broaden its scope in order to develop a model, to address this concern, which has resulted in the creation in 2005 of a new 501© (3) non-profit organization.
PASS is committed to identify the needs of parents regarding student’s education, to effectively be able to support their children with academics; give parents the assistance they need and give them an opportunity to address their concerns.
